TIME FOR A CHANGE
We created Tecán for multiple reasons. The obvious one being our love for quality tequila, the 100% Blue Weber Agave one, not the infamous mixtos which are known for their bad taste and worse hangovers. They require a lick of salt and a bite of lime to wash down the strong acidic taste. Those are the tequilas you want to avoid.
A second but crucial reason is the current state of tequila in the Netherlands, and to an extent in Europe. Like most people in the Netherlands the mixto was our introduction to tequila. Unfortunately this is the baseline tequila in most bars, which has caused a negative stigma surrounding the beautiful agave spirit we love. With Tecán we want to end this stigma, and open the doors to the wonderful world that is premium tequila.
In creating Tecán we want to bring people together to celebrate and bond in whatever way they desire. Tecán is here to inspire people to value genuine experiences, and to seek enjoyment in life. Whether a small get-together among friends, or a significant moment in life, a bottle of Tecán always has a place.
IT GETS THE PEOPLE GOING
On first inspection it’s not entirely clear what Tecán is or means, which makes sense; it’s a word we made up. It’s the fusion of two words: tequila and bacán. The first word speaks for itself.
As for bacán, it’s a term used in certain Latin American countries to describe a pleasant and alluring person; characterized by their flair and confidence. They are the embodiment of having fun and enjoying life. Everybody knows a bacán-type person, and might be one themselves. They fill any room with their contagious energy, and love to get the party started.
It’s a feeling everybody can relate to, and one everybody deserves to feel. That’s what Tecán is.
